About Our Manufacturer

Dundalk Leisurecraft is a family owned Canadian sauna and furniture manufacturer that is located in Melancthon (formerly Dundalk) Ontario. They produce quality outdoor saunas, showers, cedar hot tubs, tiki bars, and gazebos. They started with outdoor cedar furniture and as our customers grew so did there offerings. Dundalk added Saunas and Tiki bars then indoor furniture to the lineup. They now offer various types of wood, and many different collections.

Dundalk's growth has been attributed to the quality and service they put into all of their products. Dundalk partners with professional dealers to sell their product across Canada, the USA and throughout Europe.  Backyard Canada is Dundalk's exclusive dealer across Alberta and British Columbia from Calgary, Alberta.  Dundalk listens to the feedback of their customers and dealers and have added many products and designs based on that feedback. They are an eco-friendly company that buys wood from replenishing and sustainable mills that take the environment seriously, and their products are made with great care by skilled carpenters.

Outdoor Saunas FAQs

Are saunas good for you?

Saunas are a great way to relax and cleanse your body from the inside out. The sauna's heat can flush toxins from the skin, release stress and tension, and improve circulation. They also help with weight loss by burning calories.

How do cedar saunas hold up in Calgary's winter?

Cedar is an excellent wood for withstanding Canadian winters. Cedar has an extremally high resistance to moisture and temperature changes. Cedar saunas do not expand or contract as much as other woods when temperature fluctuates which makes it ideal for our climate in Calgary and the rest of Canada.

How long do you stay in a sauna?

The general rule of thumb is that you should stay in a sauna for at least 20 minutes, with most people staying for 30-40 minutes. Some people prefer going in and out of the sauna, but one way or the other, after about 20 minutes, your sweat will have evaporated and you'll need to get out. It's not uncommon for people to feel a rush when they first step into a sauna.

How long should I sit in the sauna after a workout?

It's important to spend time in the sauna after a workout. However, sitting for too long in the sauna may lead you to feel lightheaded or dizzy. Be sure to stay in the sauna for at most 10 minutes and drink lots of water before and after spending time in the sauna.

How much does an outdoor sauna cost?

If you are considering getting an outdoor sauna, you may wonder how much they cost. There is a wide range of prices depending on what type of materials and design you want, but you can expect to pay anywhere from C$9,000-C$22,000.

Are outdoor saunas better than indoor saunas?

Outdoor saunas are a great way to enjoy the natural world while taking care of your health. Studies show that not only do they help you burn more calories, but they can also help relieve stress and anxiety, improve sleep quality and strengthen immune systems. Also, many people like to cycle from the heat of a sauna to a cold experience, whether that’s simply standing outside, jumping in a lake a taking a shower with the hose.

How much space is required for an outdoor sauna?

The size of a sauna is dependent on the size of your home and the number of people you want to be able to fit in it. A one-person sauna can be as small as 3’x3′ while a six-person sauna can take up as much space as 8’x8′.
